Next week, the Franklin Squash Club will host the New World Pukekohe One-Day Junior Spring tournament, open to all ages.
Franklin Squash Club vice president Nick Anderson said the club started running one-day
tournaments that are open to all their junior members.
This includes members from other clubs in Auckland and Waikato. Entries include members
from Papakura, Huntly, Epsom, Kumeu, and Lugton Park in Hamilton.
“It’s been great to grow the junior game from a few members to quite a few new ones compared to this time last year. At the start of 2024, we only had 18, and now we have almost 50.
“We do weekly junior training on a Monday, and as a part of it, we throw these tournaments in there to get the kids engaged. We had New World Pukekohe come along as a sponsor, and one of the local businesses put some money into it as well.”

The tournament will be held on Saturday, September 13 at the Franklin Squash Club with a $400 prize pool up for grabs, along with a pizza giveaway. Entries close on Sunday, September 7.
The club also hosts junior, masters, and doubles events next March, the Franklin Open and
Doubles Tournament in June, club championships in August, and the A2 and below tournament in October.
