Two people have been arrested and a firearm recovered following a shooting in Papakura on Saturday morning.
Police were carrying out patrols in the Clevedon Road area on February 28, when officers heard what they believed were gunshots. A short time later they located a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The man was taken to hospital in a moderate condition and has since been discharged.
Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Taylor of Counties Manukau CIB said a 23-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman have both been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and unlawful possession of a restricted weapon.
“The male has been remanded in custody and will reappear in Papakura District Court on March 26,” Taylor said.
“The female will reappear in Papakura District Court on March 16.”
Taylor said initial indications suggest the victim and the alleged offenders are known to each other.
“There is no risk to the wider community.”
