Mai Lighthouse is the leading social services agency across Franklin and
North Waikato.
There is a particular season of life that doesn’t always get the support it deserves – that in-
between space where school is finished, work hasn’t quite started, and the path forward isn’t always clear. For many of our rangatahi (young people) aged 16 to 24, that space can feel uncertain, isolated, and overwhelming.
But it doesn’t have to.
Our rangatahi are not a problem to be solved. They are leaders in the making – full of potential, creativity, and heart. What they need is a community that shows up for them, believes in them, and gives them the tools to step into their future with confidence.
At Mai Lighthouse, that’s exactly what we’re committed to doing.
We’re excited to introduce Rangatahi Strong – a brand new, free four-workshop series designed specifically for rangatahi aged 16 to 24 who are not currently working or studying. Over four sessions, participants will explore the things that really matter – healthy relationships, positive self-worth, and practical job preparation. Not theory. Not lectures. Real, hands-on learning in a warm and welcoming space.
Each session is facilitated by our qualified social worker Jess, whose warmth, experience, and genuine passion for rangatahi wellbeing creates a safe and empowering environment for young people to grow, connect, and discover just how capable they already are.
Because the strongest communities are built on strong rangatahi. And strong rangatahi are built on connection, confidence, and the knowledge that someone in their corner believes in them.
If you know a young person aged 16 to 24 who is not currently working or studying – please share this with them. This programme could be exactly what they need.
Rangatahi Strong runs across four sessions from 11am to 1pm on these dates: Monday, June 15, Wednesday, June 17, Monday, June 22, and Wednesday, June 24.
Held at Mai Lighthouse Community Hub, 201 King Street, Pukekohe, these sessions are free. To register or find out more, get in touch with our team today.
