A man has been arrested following a death in the city last night Tuesday, Auckland Police say.
Emergency services were called to Wellesley Street East about 6.45pm after a report of a grievous assault involving people known to each other, says acting detective senior sergeant Scott Wilson, of Auckland City Police CIB.
“A man was located with critical injuries and was transported to hospital but had passed away upon arrival.
“One person was taken into custody, and police are not looking for anyone else in relation.
“A scene guard is in place while our enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
A 23-year-old man is due to appear in the Auckland District Court today, June 17, charged with murder.
