Heavy rain has caused a slip on Hunua Road, with the road down to one lane while contractors clear the debris. The slip was cleared by the afternoon.
A spokesman from Auckland Transport (AT) said the slip was on Hunua Road about 600m past the entrance to Hunua Quarry, and about 150m before Hays Creek Road.
“In the last three weeks, AT responded on four occasions to clear debris from this section of Hunua Road. The hill is a solid rock with minor fractured rocks and organic material on the surface.
“Due to recent rain, debris has been falling on the side water channel, with some material coming onto the road. One lane has always been in operation for traffic.”
Earlier on Friday, AT said the road was down to one lane at the site of the slip while a contractor cleared debris. It was the second such slip at the same section of road this week.
