By Angela Fulljames, Franklin Local Board Chair
As I mentioned last month public consultation for Auckland’s Annual Plan 2025/2026, is now open and Franklin residents are encouraged to take the time to have their say on what matters the most to them.
The Annual Plan is focused on delivering the second year of the Long-term Plan (LTP) 2024-2034. It aims to get on with strengthening the financial and physical resilience of Auckland, as committed to in the LTP, while investing where it is needed most to manage growth.
Franklin Local Board is looking for community feedback, as part of Auckland Council’s Annual Plan consultation.
We recognise there are services and initiatives Franklin residents want us to focus on.
As signalled in our Local Board Plan 2020 and 2023, the board are enthusiastic to progress delivery on our existing initiatives, council community service hubs, improving recreation facilities and delivering on environmental plans across Franklin.

What we propose for the Franklin Local Board area 2025/2026
- Deliver council community service hubs like libraries, arts and customer services in Beachlands and Clevedon
- Extend and improve services to isolated communities like Āwhitu, Ōrere, Glenbrook Beach, Paparimu and Kawakawa Bay
- Progress delivery of our sports and recreational plan, and provide additional grant funding for Karaka Sports Park and Te Puru Community Centre
- Deliver initiatives that improve the quality of the water in our streams, rivers and environment with programmes to get rid of pests
- Deliver the Franklin Urban Ngahere (Forest) Action Plan by planting more trees in public places
- Continue to deliver the targeted rate-funded Franklin Paths Programme.
With consultation on Auckland’s Annual Plan now open we encourage everyone to take the opportunity to provide feedback on our proposed plan.
The Annual Plan 2025/2026 consultation runs until March 28. It asks our communities for feedback on investment and funding plans for 2025/2026, including how we fund major events and destination marketing, and priorities for the Franklin Local Board.
