Emergency services responded to a serious crash around 9:18 pm on Wednesday, October 22, on Tāmaki Drive in Parnell involving a bus and a car.
The crash involved a fire reportedly engulfing an electric bus.
Multiple fire crews from twelve stations across Auckland were dispatched to the scene for what was classified as a heavy rescue by Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ).
Crews responded from across Auckland, including Auckland City, Parnell, Avondale, Remuera, Papatoetoe, Ellerslie, Saint Heliers, Ōtāhuhu, Grey Lynn, Birkenhead, Mount Wellington, and Devonport.
Auckland Transport issued an alert to motorists advising detours and delays between Ngapipi Road and The Strand, urging drivers to follow police instructions.
Police investigations and vehicle recovery remain ongoing.
