Te Kauwhata Rugby Football Club is set to enhance its facilities for women and girls after being named one of 12 successful recipients in the first round of New Zealand Rugby’s Legacy Fund.
The funding will support the development of fit-for-purpose spaces designed specifically for women and girls in rugby; an important investment aimed at increasing participation and creating more welcoming, accessible environments at the club.
Counties Manukau Rugby Football Union says the project reflects a shared commitment to growing the women’s game and ensuring players, coaches and whānau have access to quality facilities both on and off the field.
Women’s facility upgrades and inclusive rugby programmes were a major focus for this initial funding round. Te Kauwhata RFC’s strong vision, community involvement and clear benefit to local participants helped the club stand out among more than 140 applications from across the country.
This investment reflects the hard work and dedication shown by the club and its community, marking an important step toward building inclusive, well-supported rugby environments for the next generation.
