Waiuku Theatre’s new show about three elderly workers who end up with the opportunity of a lifetime opens tonight, September 4.
Written by Ed Waugh and Trevor Wood, Dirty Dusting follows three employees who, after being threatened with redundancy, are accidentally given a second chance in the last place they ever imagined they would be.
Now working as sex chat workers, can the three heroines find a way to keep their secret from spilling over into their private lives? Hilarity ensues as they do everything they can to stop their family and friends from finding out about their new lives.
As the official synopsis says: “They’ve got motive, opportunity, and a lifetime of experience – some more than others, mind you. Provided Elsie (one of the main characters) can teach the other two a few new tricks, there’s no reason why they can’t get rich quick, providing they can keep their operation a secret from their bosses, their husbands, their children, and their grandchildren.”
The show stars Lisa J Forshaw as Elsie, Gail Lord as Olive, Carol Seay as Gladys, and Stuart
Hewing as Dave. Directed by Melissa Charbonneau and Lucy Brook, the play is a scathing
indictment on ageism in the workplace, while being laugh-out-loud funny.
The show runs from September 4 to 13, with doors open from 7pm and the show is set to start at 7.30pm. The run time is approximately two hours with a short interval in the middle.
