Auckland Council says nominations are open for the Wairoa subdivision of the Franklin Local Board following the resignation of founding board member Malcolm Bell, pictured above.
There is consequently one seat to be filled in the Wairoa subdivision and nominations are open until midday on Tuesday, March 31.
“To be nominated, candidates must be New Zealand citizens, 18 years of age or over and on the Parliamentary electoral roll,” the council says.
“Their nomination form needs to have signatures from two electors enrolled in the Wairoa subdivision area.
“A deposit of $200 needs to be paid when submitting the nomination. This is refunded if the candidate polls greater than 25 per cent of the successful candidate.”
Candidates can find further information on how to submit their nomination on voteauckland.co.nz
Nomination forms must be received no later than midday Tuesday, March 31, by the Electoral Officer at Level 2, 198 Federal Street, Auckland or at select libraries.
The list of candidates will be announced as soon as practicable after the close of nominations online at VoteAuckland.
Candidate profiles will be available closer to voting opening so electors can learn more about candidates and their policies.
Voting opens on Monday, May 11, and close at midday on Wednesday, June 10.
An email to Bell seeking comment on his resignation was returned by automatic reply saying he’s on sick leave.
