Police say they have recovered a man’s body from the Tāmaki River in east Auckland.
Search efforts have been underway through the week, they say, after the man was reported missing near Waipuna on Friday, March 6.
Police say they responded to the area just before 6pm last night, March 11, after a member of the public had located the man in water.
Inspector Jim Wilson, the Auckland City East Police area commander, says the man’s death will be referred to the Coroner.
“Searching has been underway involving the Police Maritime Unit and the Police National Dive Squad, with assistance from the Navy.
“I would like to acknowledge all of those experts involved in the search effort,” Wilson says.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family for their loss.”
