Prime Minister and Botany MP Christopher Luxon has announced the Tāmaki Makaurau by-election will be held on Saturday, September 6.
The by-election follows the death of Te Pāti Māori Member of Parliament Takutai Tarsh Kemp on June 26.
“Given the vacancy in the seat has now been gazetted, I have set a date of September 6 for the by-election,” Luxon says.
The by-election Writ Day will be Wednesday, July 30.
The deadline for candidate nominations to be received will be midday Tuesday, August 5, and the last day for the return of the Writ will be Sunday, September 28.
