Police are asking for the public’s assistance after a mass disorder involving more than 50 people erupted on Karangahape Road in Auckland early this morning, December 28.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 3.41am, with a significant police response deployed, including dog units, to disperse groups involved in the disorder.
Auckland City Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Greaves says Police are now investigating three serious assaults that occurred in and around Karangahape Road during the incident.
“Police have arrested one person, but we are seeking assistance from the public to help identify and locate others involved,” Greaves says.
The first assault occurred at around 4.15am outside the Crown Bar on Queen Street.
A 33-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital. The offender remains unknown. The Police file number is 251228/4647.
At about 4.30am, a second serious assault took place on Cobden Street, just off Karangahape Road. A 27-year-old man was seriously injured and hospitalised. The offender is still unknown. The Police file number is 251228/4462.
The third assault occurred at around 5am at the Mobil service station on the corner of Karangahape Road and Ponsonby Road.
A 46-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was hospitalised. A 21-year-old man has been arrested and will appear in the Auckland District Court tomorrow charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The Police file number for this incident is 251228/4774.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the assaults or has video footage to come forward.

Greaves says Police are disappointed by the behaviour on display.
“Police are disappointed at the bad, aggressive and careless behaviour on Karangahape Road and will be holding any and all offenders to account.”
