A 36-year-old man is facing multiple charges after Henderson Police recovered a loaded sawn-off shotgun, methamphetamine, and nearly $5,000 in cash during a routine mobile patrol in New Lynn early on Tuesday morning, September 23.
The man, known to police and already on bail, was spotted behind the wheel despite being forbidden to drive.
Officers stopped him on Arawa Street and seized his vehicle.
“After arresting the male and seizing his vehicle, staff have begun an inventory search of the car and uncovered a loaded sawn-off shotgun,” says Waitematā West Area Prevention Manager, Inspector Kelly Farrant.

“He also had nearly five thousand dollars in cash, as well as a sizeable amount of methamphetamine.”
“It’s pleasing to see our staff’s local knowledge shine and recognise potential risks to our communities,” says Farrant.
The man is due to appear in the Waitākere District Court, charged with breaching bail, unlawful possession of a firearm, and driving in breach of his licence conditions.
