The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) says night-time lane closures will be in place on State Highway 1 (SH1) East Tamaki Road overbridge from Sunday, November 30, to Wednesday, December 3, between 10pm and 5am for replacement of a bridge joint on the overbridge’s eastbound lanes.
While the team is working, there will be a full eastbound closure, towards Bairds Road, on the overbridge, and lane restrictions westbound.
The following detours will be in place to direct traffic:
Traffic travelling eastbound across the overbridge will be detoured onto SH1 northbound on-ramp and exit at Highbrook Drive, where they will be directed to SH1 Highbrook Drive southbound on-ramp. From there they can travel south on SH1 to East Tamaki Road.
Traffic north on SH1 will not be able to exit at East Tamaki Road but can use the next available off-ramp at Highbrook Drive.
“Nearby properties will experience increased noise levels as the team will need to cut into the road surface, remove and replace the bridge joint and reinstate the road surface,” NZTA says.
“The bridge joint has been closely monitored and there’s no risk to safety at this stage.
“The replacement has been scheduled to ensure the road remains safe for all users.
“There’s no risk to road users on SH1 while the work is underway.
“The work is weather-dependent and may change from advertised dates.
“Motorists are advised to check the NZTA Journey planner for real-time updates before travel.”
