An observant neighbour has aided police in apprehending two men following a burglary in Hillpark early this morning.
Police were called to a property on David Avenue shortly after 2am after a report of suspicious activity. Police swarmed the property, including the Eagle helicopter, which was deployed to the scene.
Counties Manukau Central Area Commander, Inspector Adam Pyne, says two men were located at the address and taken into custody without incident.
“Police actively target burglary offenders every single day, and we continue to ask members of the public to report any suspicious activity,” he said in a statement.
“I would like to acknowledge the member of the public who acted quickly and called Police straight away. I also want to commend our Police staff who flooded the property quickly in order to locate these alleged offenders.”
Two men, aged 35 and 41, are scheduled to appear in the Manukau District Court today charged with burglary.
