Drivers and commuters across South Auckland and North Waikato are being advised to expect blustery conditions and a few showers tomorrow, as a strengthening north-westerly moves over the region.
MetService is forecasting a fine but cloudy morning on October 27, for areas including Pōkeno, Bombay, and Tuakau, with temperatures climbing into the low 20s. However, showers are expected to develop in the afternoon and evening as winds increase.
“Monday is the day to keep an eye on, there’s risk of heavy rain and strong northwest winds,” a MetService spokesperson told the Franklin Times.
The north-westerlies are likely to become strong in exposed places, particularly along elevated routes such as the Bombay Hills and SH1 between Drury and Hampton Downs.
While no weather warnings are in place, motorists are urged to take care on open roads and bridges, where gusty crosswinds can affect driving conditions.
Auckland Transport and NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi both recommend allowing extra travel time in the afternoon peak, when brief showers and reduced visibility may slow traffic on main corridors including SH1 and SH22.
