A 33-year-old man has been arrested after police deployed the Eagle helicopter to track a vehicle fleeing through West Auckland this afternoon.
Around 4.20pm, police received reports of a vehicle being driven erratically in the Westgate area, with a firearm reportedly visible inside, police said in a statement.
Ground units began following the vehicle through Huapai and Kumeu before the Eagle helicopter was called in to assist.
Eagle tracked the vehicle’s movements from above as it continued through Massey and Henderson, coordinating with ground staff on the pursuit.
At about 5.40pm, road spikes were successfully deployed, bringing the vehicle to a stop within minutes on Te Kanawa Crescent, Henderson.
The 33-year-old man was taken into custody, and police say a raft of driving-related charges are being considered.
