Four Year 13 Wesley College students have presented Franklin Hospice with a beautiful swing they created in their woodwork class.
Hui Vaka, Sam Manufolau, James Aholelei and Sini Asitomani worked on the swing over the past two terms, designing and creating it from scratch.
Their teacher David La Trobe said the face-to-face glider swing was always going to be made as a community project.
“These awesome young men’s work ethic and craftsmanship has been exemplary and the completed project is testament to this,” La Trobe said.
“They took on the responsibility of completing it with very little help other than having the materials purchased for them.”
Franklin Hospice fundraising manager Alison Daldy said they were incredibly grateful for the donation.
“We are holding a fundraising garden ramble next year so we think it would be wonderful to auction or raffle this fabulous swing as part of our ongoing fundraising efforts,” said Daldy.
