Strong winds are forecast on the Auckland Harbour Bridge between 6pm and 9pm tonight, Wednesday, and from 7am to 11am on Thursday morning, warns the New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi.
It says the stormy weather may impact road users travelling over the bridge.
“Wind gusts of 75 kilometres an hour to 80kph are forecast, which may result in lane closures.
“The bridge will remain in 4×4 [lane] configuration throughout the day today [January 21] for the evening peak and tomorrow [January 22] for the morning peak.
“Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and pay attention to electronic message boards on the motorway, which will advise if any lane closures and reduced speed limits are required,” says NZTA.
“If there is potential for sudden and high wind gusts on the bridge, lowering the speed limit gives motorists time to react and take more care.”
