A man has died after his vehicle became submerged in floodwaters on State Highway 39 in the Waikato overnight.
Emergency services were alerted to the submerged car near the intersection with Kiwi Road at Puketotara about 9.15pm after a member of the public raised the alarm.
Police say one person was located deceased inside the vehicle.
SH 39 remains closed while the scene is managed.
Motorists travelling in the Waikato District are being urged to take care and avoid attempting to drive through flooded roads.
