Police say one person has died following a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 1, northbound near the Te Irirangi on ramp.
Counties Manukau Police say emergency services were called around 7.50am after the vehicle veered off the motorway and collided with the left-hand barrier.
“Sadly, a man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“The Serious Crash Unit attended and enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.”
All lanes have now reopened.
At 8.30am, the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) advised that due to a serious crash, the road was closed to northbound traffic from SH20 interchange to East Tamaki.
Redoubt Rd on-ramp and Te Irirangi Dr on-ramp were also closed to northbound road users while the Serious Crash Unit carried out their investigations.
