Two men have been arrested and charged following a violent, unprovoked assault outside a Pukekohe supermarket on 19 September.
Police say the attack occurred around 12:30pm, when the victim was approached and assaulted by two individuals in the carpark while with his family.
Inspector Matt Hoyes described the incident as a “vicious” daylight attack, with the offenders punching and kicking the man while he was on the ground.
Security staff intervened before police arrived, and the victim sustained only minor injuries.
Following an investigation, police executed search warrants at two Pukekohe properties, arresting two men aged 22 and 20.
Both have been charged with aggravated robbery and are due to reappear in Manukau District Court on 5 December.
