Police say one person has been arrested and a homicide investigation has been launched following the death of a man in the west Auckland suburb of New Lynn today, October 6.
At about 11.52am police were called to a Kaponga Crescent address following a report of a person injured.
Despite the best efforts of first responders, the man died at the scene.
Acting Detective Inspector Simon Harrison, of Waitematā Police’s criminal investigation branch, says one person was taken into custody at the scene.
“Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter.
“We would like to reassure the community that this appears to be an isolated incident.”
Harrison says a scene examination is under way.
“The community can expect to see an increased police presence in the area while further enquiries are carried out.”
Police will provide further details around the identity of the victim when they can.
