On the wrong side of the world, May Day is a celebration of spring; here in New Zealand, it means that it’s almost time to hang up the spurs as thoroughbred racing holds its horses during winter.
While there are still races to be run at Ellerslie, May Raceday was the last of the season – with the notable exception of Ladies Day (June 24) – at Pukekohe Park.
Hotshot photographer Rikki Coulthard (from Pukekohe Franklin Camera Club) was on hand to capture the action.
