A house fire in Papakura earlier this evening has now been extinguished, Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ) has confirmed.
As reported, all occupants of the house on Duckworth Road have been accounted for.
Police confirmed they were notified of the fire and personnel attended to assist FENZ at approximately 6.50pm.
“We received multiple calls to a house fire,” FENZ shit manager, Paul Radden told the Times. “Three crews responded, two from Papakura and one from Manurewa. It was a single level dwelling. The fire is now extinguished and we have one crew still in attendance monitoring the situation.”
Asked if the cause of the fire was thought to be suspicious, Radden says:
“I don’t have that information and I don’t know where that came from. There is a fire investigator in attendance, but that does not necessarily mean it’s suspicious, just that it wasn’t immediately apparent to the crews, on arrival, what’s caused the fire.”
