A food truck trial in Pukekohe starts this week with the aim of boosting the local economy.
It is part of the Unlock Pukekohe Masterplan, a programme designed to help reinvigorate the Pukekohe town centre. This will enhance the square and allow greater flexibility for markets and housing activations.
The food trucks will be delivered by long-term resident Roger Vincent, who runs weekend markets at Pukekohe Park.
The food will be a mix of Indian, Greek, Asian, Mexican, Turkish, Māori Hangi, and gourmet burgers.
The goal of the masterplan is to redevelop the Edinburgh Street superblock site, with a laneway connecting the centre of Franklin with the town centre. It is hoped that this will create new economic opportunities for the area.

Upgrades to Devon Lane will also be trialled, with the aim of improving access to the town centre. A new market hall building will be constructed in the area, showcasing local Pukekohe offerings
It is hoped that eventually the new square will help showcase what Pukekohe has to offer.
Auckland Council partnered with Eke Panuku, Auckland Transport, Mana Whenua, and Franklin Local Board to develop the masterplan.
The trial will run from October 3 to December 5, from 4.30pm to 8.30pm, on Thursdays at Pukekohe Park on Buckland Road, and on Fridays at the Roulston Street carpark.
Please note Auckland Council is not involved in the Thursday night food trucks.
