Clarke on target as Blackcaps fall

A half century by Pukekohe’s Katene Clarke was not enough to save the Blackcaps from defeat against Bangladesh in the first of three T20s.

An early partnership with Central Districts’ Dane Cleaver – who also notched up a half century – provided a solid platform for the tourists.

However, a total of 182 was not enough to claim the game; Bangladesh won by six wickets with two overs to spare.

The Blackcaps now face a must-win match on May 2 in Mirpur to keep hopes of a series win alive.
