Three people have died after a single-vehicle crash on Masters Road, Waiuku this afternoon.
Emergency services were called at around 3.30pm after a vehicle left the road and ended up in a body of water nearby.
All three occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
In a statement, police said they acknowledge that this is tragic news for the tight-knit community in Waiuku.
Next of kin have been contacted and police said they will be ensuring support is put in place for them.
The Serious Crash Unit is now investigating the cause of the crash.
Masters Road, between Waiuku and Kidd Roads, will remain closed for a significant period of time.
