- By Senior Constable Lisa Ross, school community officer, Counties Manukau South
The Tuakau Menz Shed has once again shown the incredible value they bring to our community through craftsmanship, generosity, and practical support.
Menz Shed is a nationwide organisation that provides a friendly place for men of all ages to
come together, share skills, build projects, connect with others, and contribute positively to their communities.
The Tuakau Menz Shed in particular has become well known for its welcoming environment and for the many projects they create for local groups, schools, and residents.
Schools across the region have been preparing for road patrol training, and there was a growing need for clear, visible signage to alert drivers that students are practising and that vehicles must slow down when training is in progress.
The Menz Shed team immediately took up the challenge. With enthusiasm and community spirit, they offered to design and build the signs.
On a sunny Wednesday morning, the Counties Manukau South team picked up the completed signs, and they look fantastic.
Bright, lightweight, and easy to carry, these signs will now be used at schools across the
Counties Manukau South area to keep our young people safe during road patrol training.
So, if you’re out and about in the community and see bright yellow signs indicating that road patrol training is underway, know that they were proudly created by the talented volunteers at the Tuakau Menz Shed. Their work plays an important role in supporting safety for children and helping police and schools deliver this essential training.
The dedication and generosity of the Tuakau Menz Shed team deserve recognition, and we are incredibly grateful for their support.
