Investigators are now tasked with answering how a blaze – which engulfed a two-storey Papakura house this morning – began.
Everyone at the property, on Gibbs Crescent, Red Hill, are accounted for and unharmed, Fire and Emergency (FENZ) shift manager, Gareth Lewis told the Times.
As reported previously, FENZ received multiple calls responding shortly before 3:30am this morning. Five appliances from Papakura, Manurewa, Otara and Papatoetoe attended the second alarm blaze.
A second alarm level indicates an escalated response from FENZ is necessary, with additional resources deployed, due to the scale or nature of the fire.
An investigator has since been on site but no further details regarding the cause of the fire could be provided at this stage.
