Old tech need not pile up. Waikato District Council will be collecting broken, outdated, unwanted electronics on May 16, 9.30-2pm, at Les Batkin Reserve, Tuakau.
This includes:
- Computers, laptops, tablets
- Monitors, televisions
- Mobile phones and chargers
- Printers, scanners, fax machines
- Small household electronics, such as toasters, kettles, hairdryers etc
It does not include:
- Whiteware, including fridges, freezers and washing machines
- Lightbulbs and fluorescent tubes
- Batteries, unless a separate recycling point is provided
- Large appliances
- Power tools
Recycling electronics helps stop harmful chemicals such as lead, mercury and cadmium being absorbed into the soil, water and air. It also helps keep the community safe and clean.
This event is supported by funding from the Ministry for the Environment through the Waste Minimisation Fund, which helps reduce waste across the Waikato District.
