The extent of damage caused when a teenager on the run from police crashed into a Howick home last night has come to light – Simon Davies from Ray White Howick explains.
“I was contacted after midnight by police who notified me that a car had crashed into the house and through the front gate – a glass window was destroyed so the house wasn’t secure,” he told the Times.
“It wasn’t until I turned up at the house that I saw the carnage. It was apparent straight away that the car had been going at serious speed, lost control after destroying the neighbours fence and then crashing into my client’s property. Thankfully, no one was staying up late watching TV otherwise they would have been seriously hurt.”
As previously reported, police spotted the driver of a Toyota sportscar performing ‘a loss of traction’ on Pakuranga Road before speeding away.
Police did not pursue, but the vehicle was then found soon after it had crashed into the house on Finnerty Avenue.
A 17-year-old male driver was arrested and enforcement action is to be confirmed.
