
Franklin ward councillor Andy Baker has been elected for another term.
In progress results released about 2.40pm, Baker had secured 9,289 votes.
Challengers Dene Green and Les Thomas came second and third.
“I’m incredibly happy and humbled to have such a result not just personally but for my Team Franklin colleagues on the Local Board,” Baker told the Franklin Times.
It comes as Team Franklin has taken all but one of the seats on the board.
“I also want to acknowledge all the candidates in particular Dene and Les.
“This coming three years is going to be incredibly important and require some tough decisions and political courage so I am really looking forward to continuing with Mayor Wayne Brown on continuing the change that started three years ago,” Baker says.
In today’s Election Day Progress Result, Brown has secured a second term with 146,642 votes.
Franklin Ward Progress Result, on Saturday, October 11:
1 – Andy Baker (Team Franklin) 9,289 votes
2 – Dene Green (ACT Local)  3,675 votes
3 – Les Thomas (Independent) 2,730 votes
Preliminary results will be announced on Monday, October 13.
Final results and official results include all votes, including special votes. They will be released by Friday, October 17.
