The Franklin Hop is back this weekend, complete with market stalls, food trucks, amusement rides, a Miss Vintage pageant, and more.
Originally, it started in Waiau Pa, where it was known as the Waiau Pa Hop before moving to the main beach in Clarks Beach. In 2025, it rebranded as Franklin Hop and has since become their annual one-day, five-hour car festival in Franklin.
Thomas Nicholas, chairman of the Franklin Hop, oversees a team of Clark Beach residents and sees the hop as a chance for Franklin to shine and bring the community together.
“It’s an opportunity to showcase our stunning community and to bring people together. All funds raised support local non-profit groups in the Franklin area.
“What once started as a classic car show has grown to include a variety of incredible vehicles that people have a passion for.
“Drift cars, stock cars, Muscle cars, minis, British classics, American retro, Old world European and modern supercars, Trikes and classic bikes. If you have a love for your car or bike, the Franklin Hop is the place to show it off.”
Nicholas believes everyone attending the Franklin Hop will have a great day out and enjoy what the area has to offer.
“Our small committee is passionate about delivering a fun-filled day that people walk away from impressed with our slice of paradise.
“The Franklin Local Board is an integral part of helping us to bring this event to the community. We are grateful for their support.”
The Franklin Hop will be held this Sunday, March 1, at Clarks Beach Domain, Torkar Road, Clarks Beach, from 10am to 3pm.
The car registration fee is $10, the entry fee is $5, and children under 15 years old are free.
