Health Screening New Zealand has partnered with Unichem Franklin Hospital Pharmacy to offer a 20-minute cardiovascular heart and artery screening.
The service will only be available as a pop-up event tomorrow, October 2 and Friday, October 3.
Officially called CardiAction Heart and Artery Screening, it takes 20 minutes and provides customers with instant results. The screening uses a non-invasive pulse wave analysis (PWA)to assess a person’s cardiovascular health and detect signs of disease.
In 85 per cent of cases, the screening can detect cardiovascular disease (CVD).
The scan gives doctors real-time analysis of a patient’s heart and the condition of the arteries responsible for pumping blood through it. Once an individual’s risk factors have been identified, a corrective action plan can be implemented to assist patients. These include useful tips and ways to improve their health.
In New Zealand, one in three people dies of cardiovascular disease, but it is treatable if detected early. It is essential to note that the scan is not a diagnostic test, but rather an early warning system that indicates a patient’s health.
It is important to remember that if you already have CVD, please see your doctor instead of taking the test. If you are on blood pressure medication, the test may indicate if your current medication is effective. CardiAction is best used by those unaware of pre-existing heart conditions.
The cost is $119 to book, click here
