A new Pukekohe Young Grower of the Year has been crowned.
Held at Tuakau’s La Valla on Friday, the competition (run by Horticulture NZ) resulted in contestants win a range of awards, but chief among them was the overall title, claimed by James Blair.
Blair won the best speech, best theory and even the longest gumboot throw events along the way.
As reported previously, the competition sees growers go toe-to-toe testing their skills.
Blair will now go on to contest August’s national Young Grower of the Year title in Cromwell.
