The Home Inspo and Design Centre is inviting people to its Warm, Dry and Healthy Homes Evening tomorrow, March 26.
Homeowners will have the chance to speak directly with housing experts to discuss more efficient ways to heat their homes. Landlords will be able to learn more about housing regulations so they can be sure they’re code-compliant when renting out their properties.
Companies such as Red Inspect, Perfect Air, ADL Insulation, Franklin Aluminium, Bucks Heating, and Cubans Curtains will be available to answer questions and give advice on a range of topics, including heating, insulation, air conditioning, and home inspections.
Anni Chapman, who runs the Home Inspo and Design Centre, says the Warm, Dry and Healthy Homes Evening is a great way for both landlords and homeowners to learn about upgrading their homes and saving money.
“If you upgrade a house’s insulation and get rid of draughty doors and windows, it’s going to reduce your power bill for sure.
“If your house isn’t damp, you’re going to have fewer respiratory issues, especially if you’re already prone to things like bronchitis. New Government legislation also means landlords can be fined if their homes aren’t healthy home compliant.”
One of the biggest mistakes Chapman sees people make is failing to understand insulation.
“They might have built their home 20 years ago and put in a ton of insulation, but over time that insulation becomes less effective, and slowly compacts and stops doing the job it was meant to do. It’s got a certain lifespan, and after a while it needs to be either topped up or replaced.”
- The Warm, Dry and Healthy Homes Evening will be held on Thursday, March 26, 6pm to 8pm, at 85 Manukau Road, Pukekohe.
